The Paris Project, 2005-2006

Né en 1982 à in Baia Mare, Roumanie. Vit et travaille en Roumanie.

Depuis 2004, Sebastian Moldovan participe à de nombreuses expositions et manifestations (Dada East? en 2009 au Musée des Beaux-Arts de Tourcoing en collaboration avec la Galerie Nationale de Varsovie, la Biennale de Prague en 2007, celle de Bucarest en 2006…), s’imposant peu à peu dans le paysage artistique contemporain. Avec la vidéo The Paris Project (2005-2006), il s’intéresse à la figure du flâneur pour partir à la dérive dans Bucarest et en détourner son système de signes en apposant dans l’espace public un faux panneau de signalisation. Ce panneau qu’il installe au coeur des espaces qu’il traverse participe à la construction de situations artificielles où le simulacre règne.

Since 2004, Sebastian Moldovan has taken part in many exhibitions and manifestations (Dada East? in 2009 at the Musée des Beaux Arts in Tourcoing in collaboration with the National Gallery in Warsaw, The 2007 Prague Biennial, The 2006 Bucharest Biennial…) and gained recognition in the contemporary artistic scene. With the video The Paris Project (2005-2006), he focuses on the figure of the flâneur drifting through Bucharest and embezzling its system of road signs thanks to a false one.. This road sign which he positions in the spaces he goes through, builds artificial situations where the simulacrum reigns.
