Antoine Sement utilise le dessin et l’animation vidéo pour illustrer les thèmes du doute et de l’incapacité à créer. Il se livre à un jeu parodique avec l’Histoire de l’Art. En détournant à son profit la force d’affirmation d’une citation convenue, il exprime toute l’incertitude d’une oeuvre émergente, la sienne. «Sleep» fait ainsi référence à la vidéo éponyme d’Andy Warhol. L’artiste, tenant le rôle de John Giorno, vit son sommeil comme un refuge propice à l’inaction, s’abandonnant à l’élaboration inconsciente du processus artistique. L’irruption soudaine de la figure tutélaire de Warhol ne tarde pas à rompre ce paisible isolement. Par un jeu de miroir, s’introduit alors la logique répétitive d’une Histoire de l’Art obnubilée par une conception linéaire du progrès. Antoine Sement a participé à plusieurs expositions collectives en France (Le Spot, Le Havre ; Rencontres Internationales Paris / Berlin, Paris ; Störk Galerie, Rouen) et à l’étranger (The Chinese European Art Center, Xiamen, Chine ; Centro Cultural Chacao, Caracas).

Antoine Sement uses drawing and video animation to illustrate the themes of doubt and the inability to create. He engages a parody game with History of Art. By using to its own advantage the power of a quotation of great figures of modern art, he expresses the uncertainty of his own emerging work. «Sleep» is referring to the eponymous video of Andy Warhol. The artist, while playing the role of John Giorno, conceives his sleep as a suitable refuge for inaction, yielding to the unconscious development of the artistic process. The sudden irruption of Warhol breaks the peaceful isolation. Restaging the original piece of the pop artist, Sement explores the repetitive logic of art history, clouded by a linear conception of progress. Antoine Sement has participated in several group exhibitions in France (Le Spot, Le Havre; Internationals Meetings Paris / Berlin, Paris; Störk Gallery, Rouen) and abroad (The Chinese European Art Center, Xiamen, China; Centro Cultural Chacao, Caracas).
